Taya Hanauer

Taya Hanauer is a cultural researcher, art writer, artist/curator, and doctoral student at the Graduate Center for the Study of Culture in Justus Liebig University of Giessen. In her articles and curatorial projects, she examines art historical materials and contemporary artworks as cultural objects, addressing themes of gender, migration, and antisemitism. Her curatorial methodology uniquely combines artistic, curatorial and academic strategies in order to express cultural critique, as exemplified in her 2017 exhibition, P is for Pussy (Bookstore Space). Her current dissertation is about the legitimization of sexism in contemporary art discourses. She holds a research Master’s in Cultural Analysis from the University of Amsterdam (2013) and a BA in Art History and Gender Studies from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (2009). In 2015 she studied curating at Kibbutzim College in Tel-Aviv.
